Best Cycling Events in the Mid-Atlantic 2022

Strambecco rates the top road cycling events in the Southeast for 2022 based on a variety of factors including reputation, route quality, location, rider feedback, and the overall uniqueness of the event or race. Spanning New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Maryland — Mid-Atlantic terrain features of Strambecco’s best list often include rolling hills and countryside routes that are often market with short punchy climbs. As the Appalachian mountains are a dominant feature in the region, there is generally a lot of climbing involved. Also, depending on the time of year you can also expect warm and humid conditions.
If we had to pick the best of the best, or those you’d classify as bucket list events, we’d recommend the Gran Fondo New York, a very unique event which starts on the George Washington Bridge which connects Manhatten and New Jersey, and the Highlands Gran Fondo, a signature Gran Fondo National Series event. We also find a strong correlation between the best events and professional event producers. In the Mid-Atlantic, premiere event producers include Gran Fondo National Series, GFNY Worldwide Event Series, and Hincapie Events.
