GFNY Ann Arbor

June 12 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

GFNY Ann Arbor is one of 25 GFNY Global Event Series  culminating in the GFNY Championship every May in NYC.  Picked as one of our best road cycling events  in the Midwest, the Ann Arbor route is a loop that explores the country roads of Michigan. There are two course options. One is to ride the loop twice which spans 100 Miles and 3,700 feet of elevation, recommended for competitive long course athletes interested in racing and qualify for awards in various categories. The other option is to ride the loop once (61 miles and 2200 feet of elevation gain) for the standard medium course athletes. Both races begin and end at Ann Arbor’s ice rink, The Ice Cube, or known as A2Ice3, which is 2 miles from Downtown Ann Arbor and University of Michigan’s Football Stadium, The Big House. The course is low-traffic with rolling hills. When riders finish they will all receive photo, medal, a post-race meal, and invitation to join in the post-race festivities.

GFNY Ann Arbor course is very scenic with rivers, lakes, creeks, and local farm land. Cyclists ride past the Sharonville State Wildlife Management Area and through villages like Manchester and Bridgewater. There is a full schedule of events prior to race day with group rides for anyone as well as group rides exclusively for GFNY Ann Arbor participants. Two days before race has an Expo each day and ends with a happy hour or celebration for all riders. See GFNY main website for course rules, qualifications, and volunteer information.

GFNY events are personal endurance challenges where you compete against others, the clock, and yourself.  GFNY World events provide you that same challenge in locations around the world. Additionally, you get the chance to qualify for a front corral start at the GFNY World Championship in NYC.  For every event, each athlete has their own timing chip, which starts right after you cross the start line and stops when you cross the finish line. Timing results for all riders will be provided at the finish area on race day and online after the race. Only the finishers of the events long course are eligible for category rankings and Overall and Podium awards. If you want to race and be ranked in your category, you must complete the long course. Top 10% of finishers in each age groups qualify for the Racer Corral at every GFNY World event.  All GFNY events have the added bonus of closed roads and police moderated traffic that ensures added safety and you don’t have to stop during the race.   Also, look for VIP ticket options which include a VIP registration suite, Private shopping service, VIP Corral start, 30-min post-race massage, and access to a Post-race hospitality suite.
