PA Trail Dogs community presents the 17th annual Hyner View Trail Challenge, including the Hyner 50k and Hyner 25k. Hyner is the town that hosts the event, and the courses are mostly single-track, gaining significant elevation and challenging every participant. This course is not for everyone; it is designed for experts, trail runners, and hikers who train consistently and are comfortable with wet feet, rocky terrain, and steep hills. You will be outside your comfort zone for many miles. Zach Miller, one of the world’s top runners, has participated and set new records for this course. Hyner 50k is also included in Pennsylvania Triple Crown. Do NOT take this challenge lightly.
The Hyner 50k registrants are expected to finish in under 10 hours, and registration includes proof that you have at least finished a 31-mile trail course in under 10 hours. Please review the strict rules associated with this entry. The course covers five major climbs and steep descents that gain 6,500 vertical feet. The Hyner 50k is available for 400 registrants. Register right away or join the waitlist. The Hyner 25k has the same difficult terrain as the 50k with stream crossings, vistas, and single-track paths, but only has three climbs and descents that cover 4,000 feet of elevation. This is open to the first 1,000 runners with an open waitlist.
The courses start and end at Eagle’s Nest in Hyner, PA, and all participants are served a post-race meal to celebrate their most difficult challenge of the year. Good luck!
The Pennsylvania Triple Crown Series comprises three events: Worlds End 100K, the Hyner 50k, and the Eastern States 100. It’s pretty simple to be part of this crazy trial series. Just finish all three events within the allotted cutoff times in the same year, and you’ve earned the right to be called a Pennsylvania Triple Crown finisher.
