Jingle GX Gravel & Biketoberfest
August 6 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm$85
The Jingle GX Gravel is part of a 3 Day Biketoberfest weekend. The event has been selected for the Trek UCI Gravel World Series, an Official UCI qualifying event for the 2022 UCI Gravel World Championships in October. This is the REAL World Championships with 12 UCI Gravel World Series qualifiers in Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America, and only 2 in the US. Participants age 19 to 99 compete in their respective age category. The top 25% of each age category qualifying for the World Championships in their own age group. If there are only a few riders in a given division, the top 3 of that age division also automatically qualify. The Jingle GX was selected because of the event producers knowledge and experience organizing world class cycling events as the hosts of 5 prior UCI Cyclo-cross World Cups.
The route of 69 miles spans the rolling hills of Eastern Iowa. The terrain is rolling with short, steep climbs and unique B level dirt roads that travels through several villages of the Midwest’s Amish community. The race starts and ends at Amana Colonies where a local Oktoberfest celebrates the finish of the ride at the Festhalle Barn. The state of Iowa is not flat, it has over 100,000 km of gravel roads accounting for more than 60% of all roads in the state. There are three rest stops with food, beverages, and free mechanics along the way.
The Amana Colonies site is an excellent resource for Places to Stay, Places to Drink, Places to Shop, and general Info for Visitors. Locally owned German or family restaurants are often rated the best; The Ronneburg Restaurant, Ox Yoke Inn, and Millstream Brau Haus. Same with locally owned hotels close to the start: Hotel Millwright, Zuber’s Homestead Hotel, and Guest House Motel.
