The Seattle to Portland (STP) organized by Cascade Bicycle Club is the largest bicycle event in the Northwest, covering a 200+ mile ride through western Washington, south of Seattle, and ending in Portland, Oregon. The STP is a thrilling back-to-back double-century ride through urban and rural settings with 8,000 participants. Riders choose between one and two-day options.
STP starts from the University of Washington E-1 parking lot, and the first fifty miles include three mini-stops and the first major food stop in Spanaway at Spanaway Middle School. The second fifty miles have four mini-stops before the mid-point in Centralia at Centralia College. Each stop has mechanical support and provisions to keep riders going. Those participating in the two-day option stay in the Centralia area before the event’s second day at Snohomish County Hotels. Many places have discounts for events; mention Seattle to Portland when you make your reservation.
The third fifty miles from Centralia has five mini-stops and another major food stop in Lexington. The final fifty miles is the least technical part of the ride, so it only has two mini-stops and a major food stop before the last climb to the finish line. This race portion crosses St. John’s Bridge and ends with a finish line festival at Holladay Park. There are diverse restaurants near the park to celebrate your successful ride.
- Noble Rot is – American restaurant knowns for its wine. Open seven days a week.
- Nostrana – Italian restaurant with fresh ingredients. Reservations required.
- Olympia Provisions – Southeast restaurant with high praise for their charcuterie.
