The Seattle to Portland (STP) bike ride is organized by Cascade Bicycle Club. It is the largest bicycle event in the Northwest, covering a 200+ mile ride through western Washington, south of Seattle, and ending in Portland, Oregon. The STP is a thrilling back-to-back double-century ride through urban and rural settings with 8,000 participants. Riders choose between one and two-day options. The team at Strambecco rates this as one of the Best Road Cycling Events in the Northwest.

Seattle to Portland (STP) starts from the University of Washington E-1 parking lot, and the first fifty miles include three mini-stops and the first major food stop in Spanaway at Spanaway Middle School. The second fifty miles have four mini-stops before the mid-point in Centralia at Centralia College.  Each stop has mechanical support and provisions to keep riders going. Those participating in the two-day option stay in Centralia before the event’s second day at Snohomish County Hotels.

The third fifty miles from Centralia has five mini-stops and another major food stop in Lexington. The final fifty miles is the least technical part of the ride, so it only has two mini-stops and a major food stop before the last climb to the finish line. This race portion crosses St. John’s Bridge and ends with a finish line festival at Holladay Park. There are diverse restaurants near the park to celebrate your successful ride.

  • Noble Rot – An American restaurant known for its wine. Open seven days a week.
  • Nostrana – Italian restaurant with fresh ingredients. Reservations required.
  • Olympia Provisions – Southeast restaurant with high praise for their charcuterie.

Your STP registration makes Washington a better place for people riding bikes as your registration fee supports Cascade Bicycle Club in its mission to improve lives through bicycling and contributes tens of thousands every year to schools, non-profits, and other community groups that provide services for the food stops and at the finish line.

There are plenty of transportation details to coordinate for moving bikes and baggage, as well as a dedicated training series available for those who want to be fully prepared for the event.

Other Strambecco best-rated road cycling events in Washington are RAMROD and Mt. Baker Hill Climb.
