24 Hours in the Enchanted Forest is a widely popular 24-hour endurance mountain bike event taking place in the Enchanted Forest region of the Santa Fe National Forest, located in northern New Mexico. Strambecco rates the events as one of the best MTB events in the Southwest. During the 24-hour race, riders compete solo or in various team formats to complete as many laps of the 13.5-mile course as possible within 24 hours. There is also a 12-hour race option. Zia Rides, a premier event producer in the Southwest region, operates the event. 24 Hours in the Enchanted Forest is also part of the N24 Series, an emerging 24-Hour MTB race series produced in collaboration between GroRaces, Zia Rides, and Mudslinger Events.
The race is known for its challenging terrain, stunning scenery, and unique atmosphere filled with food trucks, music, movies, kids activities, and an excellent single track, which is a true party experience. Most participants camp on-site at the event at McGaffey Campground.
The course, 13.5 miles, comes with 700 feet of elevation gain and includes a variety of terrain, including steep climbs, rocky descents, and technical singletrack sections. Riders must navigate the course through the night, which adds difficulty and excitement. The Enchanted Forest is characterized by its dense forests, high-altitude grasslands, and rocky terrain.
