The courses wind through Michigan’s Upper Peninsula’s most remote sections\, featuring rugged terrain\, rolling hills\, and dense forests that test both navigation skills and endurance. \nThe event offers two distinct formats. The Mass Start creates a community atmosphere with group camaraderie\, while the Solo Expedition format caters to riders seeking isolation and flexibility. Distance options range from 40 miles for newcomers to the grueling 225-mile EX route that includes night riding and river crossings through some of the region’s most challenging gravel roads. \nThe 175-mile flagship route represents the ultimate test\, taking riders through significant elevation gains across the Upper Peninsula’s most demanding terrain. The 100-mile option provides substantial challenge with technical sections and increased elevation\, while the 40-mile route offers a more accessible entry point without sacrificing the event’s characteristic rugged character. \nParticipants receive detailed maps and gear recommendations in the event passport released in June.
