UCI Gravel World Championship 2026
About This Event
The UCI Gravel World Championship represents the pinnacle of amateur gravel racing, bringing together qualified cyclists from around the globe to compete for the coveted rainbow jersey. This isn’t an event you can simply register for—riders must earn their spot by finishing in the top 25% of their age category at any of the 25+ UCI Gravel World Series events held worldwide, or by placing in the top three of their category regardless of field size.
The championship features comprehensive age group categories spanning from 19 years to 75+, divided into five-year increments. Qualified riders receive official UCI notification via email and must hold a valid license from their national federation to participate. The event attracts a compelling mix of serious amateur cyclists who train year-round alongside recreational riders who’ve punched above their weight at qualifying events.
What sets this apart from typical gravel events is the legitimate world championship status backed by the UCI, cycling’s international governing body. The racing carries real weight in the cycling community, offering amateur cyclists a rare opportunity to compete at an elite level for internationally recognized titles.
The atmosphere strikes a unique balance between serious competition and celebration of gravel culture. While the racing is intense and meaningful, the event maintains a festival-like environment with activities extending beyond the races themselves. It’s both a culmination of the global gravel season and a gathering point for the international gravel community, making it as much about the experience as the competition.
