About This Event

L’Etape du Tour de France 2026 is an annual cyclosportive event that attracts thousands of participants worldwide to ride a stage of the Tour de France. It is organized by the ASO (Amaury Sport Organisation), which runs the Tour de France. Each year, one stage of the Tour de France is selected as the “Etape du Tour,” and amateur cyclists can sign up to ride the same route on closed roads. L’Étape du Tour has given rise to several other races worldwide, offering even more stunning landscapes in the same race conditions as the Tour de France.

The route of L’Etape du Tour de France 2026 varies from year to year. It can be anywhere from 100 to 200 kilometers long, with several categorized climbs that are similar in difficulty to those faced by professional riders in the Tour de France. The event is not a race but rather a challenge for amateur cyclists to test their skills and endurance. L’Etape du Tour is considered one of the most prestigious cyclosportive events in the world, and participation requires a high level of fitness and training.

The route for 2025 was 131 km, 4,500 m of ascent and 5 breathtaking climbs. A unique ride that will lead you up the legendary slopes of the Alps. The route for the day includes the following: the Côte d’Héry-sur-Ugine, the Col des Saisies, the Col du Pré, the Cormet de Roselend and the spectacular finish at La Plagne. These climbs offer a mix of switchbacks, steep ascents, and spectacular views, ensuring that participants will be tested physically while being rewarded with stunning natural beauty.

Participants should ensure they are well-prepared for the event. Training plans are essential given the demanding nature of the route. Additionally, a medical certificate is required to participate, ensuring all riders are fit to tackle the course. For convenience, services like mechanical assistance and luggage storage are available at the event village, which also hosts over 70 exhibitors.

Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) is a French sports event management company founded in 1992. It is responsible for organizing and managing some of the world’s most prestigious sporting events, including the Tour de France, the Dakar Rally, the Paris Marathon, and the Paris-Nice cycling race.

The Tour de France is the most famous and prestigious cycling race in the world and is organized by ASO. It is a multi-stage race that covers more than 3,500 kilometers over 21 days and attracts top cyclists worldwide. The race is known for its grueling mountain stages, challenging time trials, and intense sprint finishes.

ASO also manages L’Etape du Tour de France, an amateur cycling event that allows amateur cyclists to experience what it’s like to ride a stage of the Tour de France. The L’Etape du Tour de France is a single-day event that takes place on a stage of the Tour de France route and attracts thousands of amateur cyclists worldwide. The event typically occurs a few days before the professionals ride the same stage.

In addition to L’Etape du Tour de France, ASO also manages the L’Etape event series, which includes a number of amateur cycling events held worldwide. These events give amateur cyclists the opportunity to experience the challenges of riding some of the most iconic climbs and routes in professional cycling.
