This iconic event, named after the classic Paris-Roubaix race, promises to test riders against a challenging course featuring rolling gravel roads, pavement, two-track trails, rocks, sand, mud, and even the possibility of snow and ice. The team at Strambecco considers the Barry-Roubaix 2027 to be one of the Best Gravel Cycling Events in the Midwest and one of the Best Cycling Race Events in Michigan.
Riders can expect a dynamic course that weaves through the picturesque landscapes of Barry County, providing both breathtaking views and formidable obstacles. The race organizers have crafted a course reminiscent of its classic namesake, ensuring participants face a myriad of terrains that demand skill, endurance, and adaptability. To cater to riders of all abilities, Barry-Roubaix offers four distinct race lengths, each presenting its own set of challenges.
Panaracer “Psycho Killer” (100 miles): The pinnacle of the Barry-Roubaix experience, the Psycho Killer is not for the faint of heart. Covering an extensive 100 miles and boasting over 7,000 feet of ascent, this route is a true test of endurance, skill, and sheer determination. With a capped field of 400 racers, it adds an element of exclusivity to the challenge.
SRAM “Killer” (62 miles): For those seeking a more formidable challenge, the Killer stretches over 62 miles, featuring approximately 4,000 feet of ascent. This course demands both physical prowess and strategic riding as cyclists traverse the demanding landscape.
Security CU “Thriller” (36 miles): The Thriller elevates the challenge with a 36-mile course that climbs approximately 2,200 feet. Riders navigate varied terrain, experiencing the thrill of both the speed and the ascent.
Floyds of Leadville “Chiller” (18 miles): A perfect introduction to the Barry-Roubaix experience, the Chiller spans 18 miles with approximately 1,200 feet of ascent. Despite its name, riders can expect a thrilling ride that sets the tone for the more demanding routes.
Barry-Roubaix has earned its reputation as one of the world’s most popular gravel races, drawing cyclists from all walks of life. With over 4,000 fellow cyclists, this event serves as a thrilling kickoff to the race season. Participants have the chance to win a share of over $40,000 in awards, cash, and prizes, making the competition even more intense. The excitement starts early with pre-rides, a sponsor expo, bonfires, and beverages on Friday, setting the stage for the main event. Conclude the day’s exhilarating rides with a massive after-party and awards ceremony. Blackrocks Brewery beer and food vendors will be on hand to ensure everyone celebrates in style.
