About This Event
The Wilmington Whiteface MTB 2026 event, known as the ‘Beast of the East’, is an annual mountain biking competition in Wilmington, New York. Located in the beautiful Adirondack region, the event attracts both amateur and professional mountain bikers from across the country. The event takes place on the rugged and scenic Whiteface Mountain, a popular skiing destination during the winter months. In the summer, the mountain transforms into a playground for mountain bikers, with miles of trails and challenging terrain. The event offers a variety of courses, including a 100K endurance race and shorter, more technical races for intermediate and advanced riders. Strambecco rates Wilmington Whiteface MTB 2026 as one of the Best Mountain Bike Race Events in New England and one of the Best Cycling Race Events in New York.
Riders are rewarded with stunning views of the Adirondack Mountains as they navigate through rocky trails and steep inclines. Routes feature a mix of rugged backcountry roads, flowing and smooth singletrack stretches, fast descents over ski trails, and plenty of climbing. Explore Jeep roads near Jay and Saddleback mountains and technical stretches of singletrack at Hardy Road Trails, the Flume Trail, and Whiteface Mountain — the site of the 1980 Olympic Winter Games’ downhill ski races. The 100k course features over 7,500 ft. of climbing, while the 50k boasts over 3,000 ft. of elevation gain. The atmosphere at the event is electric, with riders and spectators cheering on the competitors as they push themselves to their limits.
