Riders in Wilmington Whiteface MTB

The Wilmington Whiteface MTB event is an annual mountain biking competition held in Wilmington, New York. Located in the beautiful Adirondack region, the event attracts both amateur and professional mountain bikers from across the country.  The event takes place on the rugged and scenic Whiteface Mountain, a popular skiing destination during the winter months. In the summer, the mountain transforms into a playground for mountain bikers, with miles of trails and challenging terrain. The Wilmington Whiteface MTB event offers a variety of courses, including a 100K endurance race and shorter, more technical races for intermediate and advanced riders.

The event is known for its beautiful scenery and challenging courses. Riders are rewarded with stunning views of the Adirondack Mountains as they navigate through rocky trails and steep inclines. Routes feature a mix of rugged backcountry roads, stretches of flowing and smooth singletrack, fast descents over ski trails, and plenty of climbing. Explore Jeep roads near Jay and Saddleback mountains, along with technical stretches of singletrack at Hardy Road Trails, the Flume Trail, and Whiteface Mountain — the site of the 1980 Olympic Winter Games’ downhill ski races.  The atmosphere at the event is electric, with riders and spectators alike cheering on the competitors as they push themselves to their limits.  Strambecco rates Wilmington Whiteface MTB as one of the Best MTB events in New England.

The town of Wilmington is a charming and picturesque community that serves as the backdrop for the event. Lake Placid is also nearby and is perhaps best known for hosting the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics, which helped put the village on the map as a top winter sports destination. In addition to its Olympic legacy, Lake Placid is also home to the picturesque Mirror Lake and the larger Lake Placid, as well as a charming downtown area with restaurants, shops, and galleries.  Both towns are surrounded by beautiful forests, lakes, and rivers, making it an ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy hiking, fishing, kayaking, and other outdoor activities while in the area.

There are several lodging options available in and around the resort to suit a variety of budgets and preferences.  On-site accommodations at Whiteface Mountain Resort include the Whiteface Lodge, a luxury hotel with spacious suites and a variety of amenities, and the High Peaks Resort, which offers hotel rooms and lakefront suites with views of Mirror Lake.  There are also many off-site lodging options in the nearby town of Lake Placid, including bed and breakfasts, vacation rentals, and hotels. Some popular options include the Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort, Lake Placid Lodge, and Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa.

For those looking for a more rustic experience, there are also campgrounds and cabins in the surrounding Adirondack Park. The Wilmington Notch Campground and the Adirondack Loj are two options for camping near Whiteface Mountain Resort.
