Strambecco’s Ride in the Fight to End Alzheimer’s
Strambecco was inspired by the love of endurance sports and the personal benefits one derives from taking on these challenges. This website embodies a shared love of cycling, celebrating our collective journeys on the same roads and trails, ultimately fostering meaningful connections centered around well-being and community.
This October, Greg Mason and nine of his buddies, a team dubbed “The Strambeccos”, will set out to complete a 444-mile ride over just six days from Mississippi to Tennessee along the Natchez Trace Parkway. They are dedicating this ride in support of Pedal for Alzheimer’s, a nonprofit charitable organization committed to spreading awareness and raising funds for Alzheimer's research, education, support, and care. At the heart of Strambecco lies a shared passion among cyclists from around the globe, fueling the company's essence. This commitment is equally reflected in the unity of our team as we dedicate this ride to the battle against Alzheimer’s.
Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States. Although there is currently no cure, dedicated resources aimed at combating this disease have led to advancements in medications that can help manage symptoms and slow their progression. According to the Harvard School of Public Health, the health benefits of cycling have been found to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and early deaths. Improving cardiovascular and heart health through exercise, like endurance cycling, can also reduce the risk of developing dementia, a study that was found in UK’s Alzheimer’s Society research at The University of Oxford.
This ride is personal for several of the cyclists who will partake in the October ride, as many have been touched directly by the cruelty of this disease. Strambecco’s founder and CEO of SilverAssist, Greg Mason, also has a personal connection that is fueling his passion for raising awareness and support for this important cause. Greg's grandfather and uncle faced the challenges of Alzheimer's, and he, himself, carries a gene marker that increases the likelihood of developing this devastating disease. This transforms his passion for cycling and the Strambecco brand into more than just a national resource for fellow cyclists; it becomes a broader endeavor to combat the disease and support those impacted by it.
Strambecco, in partnership with SilverAssist and Pedal for Alzheimer's, will begin their ride on October 21, 2024, to raise $20,000.00 in the fight against Alzheimer’s. Any support would be greatly appreciated, whether monetary or words of encouragement. Read more about Greg’s story and give today by clicking the donation link to support The Strambecco’s ride!
