About

The Franklin Land Trust (FLT) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and protection of the rural landscapes, agricultural lands, and natural resources of western Massachusetts. With a mission to conserve land that contributes to the ecological and cultural vitality of the region, FLT works closely with landowners and communities to ensure that cherished forests, farmland, and open spaces remain intact for future generations.

One of the signature events organized by the Franklin Land Trust is the Deerfield Dirt Road Randonnée (D2R2), a challenging and picturesque cycling event on the rural roads and dirt trails of Franklin County. D2R2, known for its rugged beauty, demanding terrain, and minimalistic approach, offers a variety of routes ranging from 20 miles to 180 kilometers, providing options for cyclists of varying skill levels. The event has earned a reputation for being one of the country’s most scenic and rewarding gravel rides, with routes that wind through unpaved roads, covered bridges, and rolling farmlands.

Proceeds from D2R2 support the Franklin Land Trust’s ongoing conservation efforts, making the event a physical challenge for participants and a meaningful contribution to land preservation. Through events like D2R2, FLT raises awareness of the importance of maintaining the region’s natural beauty and environmental health.
