Baker Highway (State Route 542) to Artist Point. Covering roughly 24 miles, participants climb more than 4,300 feet in elevation, navigating through lush forests and alpine views. The event typically draws competitive cyclists from all over the Pacific Northwest and beyond, offering both timed and non-timed categories. 2. Ski to Sea: Ski to Sea is a renowned multi-sport relay race held annually in Whatcom County. Teams of 8 athletes compete in 7 different sports, starting at the top of Mt. Baker and finishing in Bellingham Bay. The race includes cross-country skiing, downhill skiing/snowboarding, running, road biking, canoeing, cyclocross biking, and sea kayaking. This unique event celebrates the region’s diverse outdoor opportunities and draws participants from across the world. Ski to Sea is a signature community celebration, attracting thousands of spectators and offering various festival activities.
3. Tour de Whatcom: Tour de Whatcom is a recreational cycling event catering to riders of all skill levels. It offers multiple route options, ranging from 22 to 100 miles, all showcasing the beautiful landscapes of Whatcom County, including coastal views, farmland, and mountain backdrops. The ride is not competitive but focuses on fostering community spirit and raising funds for local charities. 4. Bellingham Traverse: The Bellingham Traverse is a multi-sport relay race designed to celebrate the journey of wild salmon as they traverse their way through local ecosystems.
