About This Event

Aurora Gravel Switzerland is the inaugural edition of the Aurora Gravel Rally Series, a two-day multi-stage gravel racing event set in the stunning Jura region. The event features two distinct stages with contrasting characteristics, one emphasizing speed and rolling terrain, the other demanding technical alpine climbing. Participants choose between a full 179 km course with 3637 m elevation gain or a 133 km discovery route with 2958 m gain, both combining approximately 70 percent gravel and 30 percent asphalt surfaces. The rally-style format incorporates 2 to 3 timed racing sections per stage representing two-fifths of the total distance, with remaining liaison sections navigated untimed via GPX waypoints. The event welcomes both traditional gravel bikes and flat-bar mountain bikes, including electrically-assisted models. Capped at 300 riders, the event traverses altitudes between 450 and 1350 meters across the Jura 3 Lacs region and surrounding massif crests. Navigation for timed sections features full signposting, ensuring competitive integrity and rider safety. Beyond racing, Aurora Gravel offers a festive atmosphere on the evening of September 5, including live music, local craft beer, an exhibitors village, and food trucks. Based at Ferme de Pierre à Bot in Neuchâtel, the event combines competitive gravel racing with the community spirit characteristic of alpine endurance events.
