Event & Course Info
Starting and finishing at the charming Burning Stones Plaza within Copper Mountain Resort, the Copper Triangle promises a day of epic cycling amidst awe-inspiring scenery. The journey begins in Center Village, taking you on an exhilarating ascent of Fremont Pass, where you'll get to skirt the city of Leadville and continue over Tennessee Pass, passing through the historic Camp Hale (10th Mountain Division training ground) and the picturesque town of Minturn. As you pedal on, you'll be greeted by the world-renowned Vail Village before facing the ultimate challenge: the steep climb up Vail Pass. But fear not, for along the route, you'll find five well-stocked aid stations offering hydration drink mix, water, fresh fruit, and a variety of delicious snacks to keep you fueled and energized. There is also SAG support along the way, especially for riders unable to make it to the top of Vail Pass.
The Copper Triangle is a celebration of athleticism and camaraderie, limited to the first 3,000 riders, so secure your spot early. While on open roads with vehicular traffic, organizers take great care to ensure safety; however, cyclists are urged to exercise caution and control their speed, especially during steep descents and varying road conditions. The event officially kicks off between 6 a.m. and 7:45 a.m., and all cyclists must be on the road by 8:00 a.m. Starting early not only allows you to revel in the beauty of the landscape but also helps you avoid afternoon mountain thunderstorms and traffic.
For post-ride refueling, the Alpine Celebration awaits you, offering a scrumptious lunch, a beer garden, and live entertainment. It starts late morning and lasts all day. The celebration also features an expo showcasing the latest cycling gear, accessories, and products, providing an excellent opportunity for both riders and their friends and family to explore.
A unique aspect of the Copper Triangle is its support for a meaningful cause. Proceeds from the event go to the Davis Phinney Foundation, benefiting those living with Parkinson's disease. By participating, you'll not only have an incredible experience on your bike but also contribute to the well-being of others.
