About This Event

La Stelvio Santini (LSS) 2026 is an annual cycling event in the breathtakingly beautiful region of Valtellina in northern Italy. The event celebrates the legendary Stelvio Pass, one of the most iconic climbs in the world of cycling, and attracts thousands of riders worldwide. La Stelvio Satini’s (LSS) 2026 route is a challenging and unforgettable experience featuring three-course options. The ascent of the Stelvio Pass is the highlight of the race.

The challenging climbs and welcoming atmosphere make the Gran Fondo Stelvio Santini unique and one of the reasons Strambecco rates La Stelvio Santini (LSS) 2026 as one of the Best Gran Fondos in Italy. The event is not just a race but a celebration of cycling culture, with riders from all backgrounds and abilities coming together to push themselves to the limit. The event has a carnival-like atmosphere, with music, food, and drink, making it an unforgettable experience for all participating.

The La Stelvio Santini (LSS) road cycling event offers participants three distinct routes, each designed to challenge and thrill cyclists with varying degrees of difficulty:

Long Route
– Distance: 130 km
– Elevation Gain: 4270 meters

Medium Route
– Distance: 108 km
– Elevation Gain: 3050 meters

Short Route
– Distance: 64 km
– Elevation Gain: 2280 meters

Cyclists will face three legendary climbs during the event:

The Mortirolo is a name that strikes awe and respect into the hearts of cyclists. Starting from the village of Sernio, this climb was introduced in 2022 and spanned approximately 11 kilometres with an elevation gain of 1200 meters. The average gradient is just over 10%, with the steepest sections reaching 16%. This relentless climb offers few moments of respite but promises unforgettable memories. The climb culminates at Guspessa Lake, where timekeeping begins as soon as cyclists depart from Sernio.

The Stelvio is one of the most iconic climbs in the Alps, and the Giro d’Italia is renowned globally for its challenging ascent. Beginning in Bormio, this climb takes participants to the 2758-meter high Pass after 21 grueling kilometers. With an average gradient of 7.2% and peaks at 14%, the Stelvio is not just about steepness; the high altitude adds an extra layer of difficulty. The timed section starts just outside Bormio and ends at the Stelvio Pass, marked by its 2758-meter altitude. Designed in the early 1800s by Engineer Carlo Donegani, this route ascends the rugged Braulio Valley, featuring over 40 hairpin bends leading to a unique finish at the Stelvio Pass.

La Stelvio Santini promises an extraordinary experience, combining the thrill of challenging climbs with the beauty of the Italian Alps.
