Phil’s Cookie Fondo 2024

October 28 - October 29

Rider on Highway 1

Phil’s Cookie Fondo will satisfy your love for cycling, cookies, and adventure. The event not only showcases the natural beauty and diverse terrain of Malibu and the Santa Monica Mountains in Los Angeles, California, but also supports a worthy cause, as funds raised go towards protecting the Santa Monica Mountains through the Los Angeles Chapter of Sierra Club.  Strambecco rates the event as one of the Best Road Cycling Events in the Southeast.

Phil’s Cookie Fondo owes its name and spirit to the passionate cyclist and cookie aficionado Phil Gaimon. Phil is a former professional cyclist who gained fame not only for his achievements on the bike but also for his engaging personality and love for cookies. After retiring from professional racing, Phil channeled his passion for cycling and cookies into creating an event that would bring people together, inspire camaraderie, and satisfy their sweet cravings.

Phil Gaimon is not only the namesake but also actively involved in organizing and hosting the event. His infectious enthusiasm and warm demeanor create an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere, making participants feel like part of a close-knit community. Phil’s presence adds an extra layer of excitement, as participants have the opportunity to ride alongside and engage with a cycling personality who shares their love for the sport and delicious treats.

Whether you choose the challenging Double Fudge route to test your endurance and climbing legs or opt for a shorter, family-friendly ride like the Mini Chip, Phil’s Cookie Fondo offers something for everyone. The routes are carefully designed by Phil Gaimon himself, a former professional cyclist known for his passion for the sport and love of cookies. Phil’s involvement adds an extra layer of excitement and creates a welcoming atmosphere for all participants.  The event spans the full weekend, with ride options on Saturday and Sunday.

SUGAR COOKIE (SATURDAY) – 45 MI.
Stunt Road is one of the best climbs in the Santa Monica Mountain range–a little too far South for the main event at Phil’s Fondo, but a perfect climax for the shorter option on Bonus Day, topping out at Saddle Peak–one of the highest points in the mountain range, and a breathtaking view of the ocean.

COOKIE (SATURDAY) – 56 MI.

The longer route for Phil’s Fondo Bonus Day goes over the peaceful Old Topanga Canyon into Fernwood. Take a break on the climb because it’s steep, but tell your friends you just had to get that photo of the beautiful view of LA. Enjoy a cookie and another amazing photo op at Saddle Peak before you descend Piuma back to the expo.

MINI CHIP (Sunday) – 20 MI
The All New Mini Chip Route gives families, recreational riders, and anyone that hates climbing the opportunity to enjoy the Cookie Fondo…minus all the crazy climbing.

SUGAR COOKIE (Sunday) – 49 MI
The Sugar Cookie is our shortest route, but don’t think it’ll be easy. It starts up Westlake Blvd, where you’ll pray around every turn that the climb will be over. Enjoy a fun descent to the Pacific on Mulholland Hwy and some beach views before you head back inland for Potrero—the toughest climb of the weekend.

CHOCOLATE CHIP (SUNDAY) – 83 MI

The Chocolate Chip is our most popular ride. Experience the best that Southern California has to offer, with a total of four climbs. This is a serious route with serious altitude gain–not for beginners. This is the recommended Fondo distance.

DOUBLE FUDGE (SUNDAY) – 103 MI
The Double Fudge is nearly crazy by all measurable standards. This route will test your endurance, climbing legs, and willpower. Designed by Phil himself, survive this route, and you’ll have something to brag about. Don’t sign up if you’re not sure you can do it, and we think you’ll have more fun on the Chocolate Chip, but go for it if you really want to #earnyourcookie.

During the ride, riders can look forward to strategically placed cookie stops where they can refuel and indulge in a variety of gourmet cookies. With 10,000 cookies available on the course, the food experience alone makes Phil’s Cookie Fondo worth the price of registration. From classic chocolate chip to gluten-free options, there’s a cookie to suit every taste preference.

Safety and enjoyment are top priorities at Phil’s Cookie Fondo. The event is well-organized, with rest stops providing hydration and nourishment and support vehicles available along the route for any assistance needed. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced cyclist, you can choose a distance option that suits your skill level and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow riders.

The culmination of Phil’s Cookie Fondo is a vibrant post-ride celebration where participants can relax, share their experiences, and revel in their accomplishments. It’s a chance to connect with like-minded individuals, make new friends, and create lasting memories. The event truly captures the spirit of community, adventure, and the joy of cycling.

In conclusion, Phil’s Cookie Fondo is not just a cycling event; it’s an immersive experience that combines the thrill of riding with the delight of enjoying freshly baked cookies. Whether you’re seeking a personal challenge, a family-friendly outing, or an opportunity to connect with the cycling community, Phil’s Cookie Fondo delivers on all fronts. Join this delectable cycling adventure in the heart of Los Angeles and discover why it’s hailed as the sweetest Gran Fondo of all.
