About This Event

Phil’s Cookie Fondo 2026 will satisfy your love for cycling, cookies, and adventure. The event showcases Malibu’s natural beauty and diverse terrain, as well as the Santa Monica Mountains in Los Angeles, California, and supports a worthy cause. Funds raised go towards protecting the Santa Monica Mountains through the Los Angeles Chapter of the Sierra Club. Strambecco rates the event as one of the Best Road Cycling Events in the Southeast.

Phil’s Cookie Fondo 2026 owes its name and spirit to the passionate cyclist and cookie aficionado Phil Gaimon. Phil is a former professional cyclist who gained fame not only for his achievements on the bike but also for his engaging personality and love for cookies. His infectious enthusiasm and warm demeanor create an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere, making participants feel part of a close-knit community.

The event spans the full weekend, with ride options on Saturday and Sunday. Whether you choose the challenging Double Fudge route to test your endurance and climbing legs or a shorter, family-friendly ride like the Mini Chip, Phil’s Cookie Fondo offers something for everyone.

CHAMOIS BUTT’R SHAKEOUT RIDE (SATURDAY) – 16 MI
A simple loop for those who want to join the fun while participating in a costume contest. The winner is awarded sunglasses from Chamois Butt’r and Goodr.

BAKE YOUR OWN (SATURDAY) – 45 and 56 MI
Sugar Cookie and Chocolate Chip routes provide more views of Malibu. Join the fun climbs up Fernwood and Stunt before the main event Sunday.

MINI CHIP (Sunday) – 20 MI
The Mini Chip Route gives families, recreational riders, and anyone who hates climbing the opportunity to enjoy the Cookie Fondo…minus all the crazy climbing.

SUGAR COOKIE (Sunday) – 49 MI
The Sugar Cookie is our shortest route, but don’t think it’ll be easy. It starts up Westlake Blvd, where you’ll pray around every turn that the climb will end. Enjoy a fun descent to the Pacific on Mulholland Hwy and some beach views before you head back inland for Potrero—the toughest climb of the weekend.

CHOCOLATE CHIP (SUNDAY) – 83 MI
The Chocolate Chip is our most popular ride. Experience the best that Southern California has to offer, with a total of four climbs. This is a serious route with serious altitude gain–not for beginners. This is the recommended Fondo distance.

DOUBLE FUDGE (SUNDAY) – 103 MI
The Double Fudge is nearly crazy by all measurable standards. This route will test your endurance, climbing legs, and willpower. Designed by Phil himself, survive this route, and you’ll have something to brag about. Don’t sign up if you’re not sure you can do it, and we think you’ll have more fun on the Chocolate Chip, but go for it if you really want to #earnyourcookie.

During the ride, riders can look forward to strategically placed cookie stops where they can refuel and indulge in gourmet cookies. With 10,000 cookies available on the course, the food experience alone makes Phil’s Cookie Fondo worth the registration price. From classic chocolate chip to gluten-free options, a cookie suits every taste preference.

The event is well-organized, with rest stops providing hydration, nourishment and support vehicles available along the route for any assistance needed. The culmination of Phil’s Cookie Fondo is a vibrant post-ride celebration where participants can relax, share their experiences, and revel in their accomplishments.
