About This Event
The XTERRA Trail Run World Championship 2026 is the crown jewel of the global XTERRA Trail Run World Series, attracting elite and amateur trail runners from across the globe. This edition will be held in the stunning Eryri National Park (Snowdonia), Wales, from July 12-13, marking the first time this prestigious event will take place in the UK.
The XTERRA Trail Run World Series includes races across more than 20 countries, and to qualify for the World Championship, runners must earn a slot by competing in one of the series events.
The championship offers four distances: a 10K Trail Run, 21K Half Marathon, 44K Marathon, and 57K Ultra Marathon. The marathon route is particularly demanding, with over 1,685 meters of ascent, taking runners through iconic locations like Rhyd Ddu and Beddgelert, with spectacular views of the park’s valleys and mountains. The technical nature of the course, combined with unpredictable weather, makes this one of the most challenging yet scenic races on the XTERRA circuit.
The event isn’t just for competitive runners; it also features family-friendly activities. The event village will host live music, food vendors, and an expo. A special community fun run will raise funds for the local Mountain Rescue Team, reinforcing XTERRA’s commitment to supporting local causes.
