Dirty Edge Gravel 2026
About This Event
Part of Adventure Fest’s multi-sport weekend in Fruita, Colorado, Dirty Edge Gravel delivers a distinctive 50K route through the North Fruita Desert’s expansive gravel roads. The course showcases the area’s signature terrain with 2,700 feet of climbing across rolling hills, short steep pitches, and flowing descents, all while offering panoramic views of the Book Cliffs, buttes, and mesas that define this desert landscape.
The route begins as a loop before transitioning into an out-and-back format, winding through non-technical gravel roads that highlight why 18 Road has earned its reputation among cyclists. Riders tackle the back canyon section of the Edge Loop, where the mix of smooth gravel and sporty terrain creates an engaging challenge without requiring technical skills. Well-positioned aid stations support racers at miles 5, 13, and the crucial turnaround point at mile 20.
Adventure Fest enhances the experience with a free women’s gravel clinic on Saturday, led by professional cyclist Reese Ruland. The clinic includes course preview opportunities and skill development in a supportive community setting. The weekend’s multi-sport format creates a festival atmosphere that balances competition with camaraderie.
Post-race festivities feature awards ceremonies with custom cowbell trophies for age group winners and complimentary entries for the following year’s event. The combination of early-season desert conditions, stunning high-desert scenery, and the supportive race environment makes this 50K particularly appealing for both seasoned gravel riders and newcomers to the discipline. The event capitalizes on Fruita’s prime location near the Utah border, offering access to some of the Southwest’s most compelling cycling terrain.
