Enchanted Forest Trail Races

Gemini Adventures brings three challenging trail runs to Land of Enchantment in Red River, New Mexico with Enchanted Forest Trail Races event. Runners can register for a Heavy Half course or continue for another thirteen miles to complete in a full Marathon. The courses start and finish at Brandenburg Park in downtown Red River, an adventure town with a lot of character and stunning views surrounded by rivers and mountains. Both courses include the challenging trails in Carson National Forest and climb along the course of Enchanted Forest cross country ski area.
The Heavy Half is 14.7 miles with a 1600 feet of elevation gain. The course includes route along Old Pass Road and through Enchanted Forest. There is a bit of pavement when runners go through downtown but mainly gravel terrain with four aid stations along the route. The Marathon course starts the same but extends the length through Enchanted Forest before a switchback that leads to the finish line. It is a total of 26.5 miles with elevation gain of 4000 feet. Six aid stations support the runners including ones at the base and peak of the Enchanted Forest ski route. The aid stations are cupless so participants need to bring their own cups to refill at stations with ice water or Tailwind hydration mix. Medical support is included at these areas to provide assistance for any emergency. The after party takes place right at finish line in the park and customized awards are given to the top men and female winners of the six age categories.
Red River is a great place to visit with active community and things to do in town as well as hiking and horse-back riding right outside of town. For restaurants Yesterday’s Diner, Texas Reds Steakhouse, and Red River Brewing Company & Distillery right along Main Street. For those interested in staying the full weekend, there are locally owned hotels in downtown, see Three Bears Lodge or Alpine Lodge. There are multiple campgrounds and RV Parks close to town as well.
