Austin Rattler Run 2026
About This Event
Set on the sprawling 1,300-acre Reveille Peak Ranch in Texas Hill Country, the Austin Rattler Run combines challenging terrain with festival atmosphere. This Leadville Race Series qualifier features a demanding 10-mile loop that runners tackle once, twice, or three times depending on their distance choice.
The course delivers a technical mix of 60% singletrack and 40% jeep roads, weaving through rocky outcrops, dense woodlands, and open fields with panoramic Hill Country views. The terrain keeps runners honest with rolling hills and technical sections that demand focus, while the ranch’s well-maintained trail system ensures consistent footing throughout the 62-mile trail network.
What sets this event apart is its dual-sport festival format. Mountain bikers race simultaneously on the same trail system, creating an energetic atmosphere that builds throughout the morning. The 50K starts at 7:30 a.m. with an 8.5-hour cutoff for Leadville qualification, while shorter distances follow.
Aid station strategy is crucial here. Only one station operates at the start/finish area, stocked with water, PowerBar, and Coke, plus neutral bag drop access. Multi-lap runners appreciate the opportunity to resupply between loops, but single-loop participants must plan their hydration carefully.
The post-race celebration captures the event’s Texas spirit perfectly. Starting at 10 a.m., the lakeside finish festival features live local music, BBQ, and beer, creating a relaxed environment where runners and bikers mingle. Awards recognize the top five finishers across male, female, and non-binary categories, but the real draw is the community vibe that keeps participants returning year after year.
