Bear Brook Classic 2026
About This Event
The Bear Brook Classic takes place in New Hampshire’s 10,000-acre Bear Brook State Park, where riders tackle an impeccable mix of flow and technical singletrack through dense forests and rolling terrain. The October timing showcases New England’s peak fall colors, creating one of the most scenic racing environments in the region.
The event follows a US Cycling-sanctioned format with seven distinct categories, each starting with mass waves separated by age groups. The course centers around two loops: a 6-mile route and an 11-mile marathon loop. Category 3 novice riders complete one lap for roughly 10 miles, while Category 1 and 2 racers tackle three laps for approximately 20 miles. Pro/Elite riders push through four laps, and there’s even a fat bike category covering two laps of the same challenging terrain.
What sets this race apart is its genuine inclusivity. Kids 11 and under get their own short course, while the marathon category offers serious endurance miles for those seeking a longer challenge. The technical variety keeps riders engaged throughout, with terrain that rewards both climbing fitness and bike handling skills.
The competitive atmosphere remains welcoming rather than cutthroat. Top three finishers across all categories receive medals, while elite racers compete for cash prizes. The post-race scene features food trucks and a community vibe that reflects New England mountain biking culture at its best.
Bear Brook’s 40+ miles of park trails provide ample warm-up and cool-down opportunities, making it easy to extend your weekend beyond just race day.
