Boggs MTB 2026
About This Event
Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2026, Boggs MTB stands as one of the few enduring relay mountain bike races, held annually in the Boggs Demonstration State Forest near Cobb, California. This eight-hour endurance challenge offers riders the choice to compete solo or as part of two- or three-person relay teams.
The course delivers a punishing 8-9 mile loop with approximately 1,500 feet of elevation gain per lap. Enhanced trails and restoration work continue to improve the riding experience, while The Funduro returns for 2026, adding a hill climb and creative super-d element to the traditional format. The distinctive 8-hour structure begins with a mass start at 8:00 am, with all participants racing until the 5:00 pm cutoff. Team exchanges happen immediately upon crossing the finish arch, creating strategic opportunities for relay squads.
Bike Monkey’s advanced RFID scoring system provides real-time results throughout the day, maintaining transparency and heightening the competitive atmosphere. The simultaneous start creates an electric energy as solo riders and teams begin their endurance battle together.
Due to forest restoration following the 2015 Valley Fire, overnight camping is typically prohibited in Boggs Demonstration State Forest. However, the race secures 200 reserved camping spots exclusively for participants, available for car/tent or van setups through mandatory registration. Without a reserved spot, riders must exit the forest after the Saturday race concludes.
Awards recognize the top three finishers across individual men’s and women’s divisions, plus various team categories based on size and composition, celebrating the endurance achievements of this demanding mountain bike challenge.
