About This Event
Nestled in the heart of South Carolina, the Kershaw Gold Rush 2026 is not just another event on the 6-part Southeast Gravel Series Calendar – it is, without a doubt, the crown jewel. As the finale of the season, it brings with it the anticipation, the excitement, and the challenge that every gravel cycling enthusiast craves.
Where else can you ride across a 2500-acre historic plantation, combined with unique topography, minimal traffic, and an astounding 70% of unpaved roads makes it an unmatched gravel cycling experience. Add to that the opportunity to earn double series points, and you’ve got an event that’s irresistible to both competitive riders and those seeking pure adventure. Strambecco rates the event as one of the best gravel grinders in the Southeast. The event is produced by Southeast Gravel, which is a top-shelf producer in the region.
The Kershaw Gold Rush offers three-course options to riders, with the most challenging being the Long Course, which spans 83 miles and 6,100 ft. of elevation gain. Riders tackling this route kick things off at 9:00 am, and it’s an ideal option for seasoned riders looking for an endurance challenge. The showstopper of the course is undoubtedly “The Wall” – a heart-pounding climb with gradients reaching 15% over 300 meters, eventually settling to a 5% incline to the finish.
The Short Course riders follow and will cover 45 miles and 3,200 ft. of climbing – it’s a balanced option offering both challenge and charm. Finally, the Fun Course is a refreshing 13-mile route, perfect for those wanting to savor the beauty of Kershaw without a full-day commitment or those dipping their toe in the water of competitive events.
Riders will encounter a plethora of terrain – from smooth to chunky gravel, interspersed with mud and even patches of sand. Thanks to its location on South Carolina’s “fall line”, the ground surface is ever-evolving, ensuring no two miles are the same.
For the long haul riders on the 83-mile route, two rest areas are available, stocked with water, drink mix, and essential snacks. Those on the 45-mile route have one such oasis. However, this is primarily a self-supported event. While there’s SAG support for emergencies, participants are encouraged to carry tools and essential parts and possess the know-how to manage minor repairs.
Double the effort, double the points! As the season’s final event, Kershaw Gold Rush participants have the added incentive of earning double series points. After conquering the challenging courses, riders can unwind and soak in the panoramic views from the highest point in the area – the Brewer Plantation.
