About This Event

The Oak Ass 100 2026 is a premier mountain biking endurance race held annually in Pelham, Alabama, within the expansive Oak Mountain State Park. Oak is the championship event in the year-long National Ultra Endurance (NUE) Series; the event attracts amateur and professional riders seeking to test their limits on one of the Southeast’s most challenging courses. Participants can choose between a 50-mile (one lap) or 100-mile (two laps) course, each meticulously designed to showcase the park’s diverse terrain. The course features significant elevation changes, demanding both physical endurance and technical skill from riders. Riders navigate a mix of singletrack trails, rugged climbs, and fast descents, offering a comprehensive test of mountain biking prowess. Oak Ass 100/50 2026 is rated by Strambecco as a Best-in-Class MTB event/race in the Southeast.

The National Ultra Endurance (NUE) MTB Series is one of the premier mountain biking race series in North America, dedicated to ultra-distance mountain biking enthusiasts. Participation in individual NUE events is open to all riders, but registration fills quickly due to the series’ popularity. Riders must complete at least three events to qualify for overall series rankings, with points awarded based on finishing positions and the best four results counting toward their total score.

Oak Mountain State Park features over 30 miles of purpose-built singletrack trails that cater to riders of all skill levels. The Double Oak Trail (Red Trail), a 22-mile loop, combines technical sections, flowy singletrack, and scenic views. The Red Trail has been designated an IMBA Epic Ride, a testament to its exceptional quality and rideability.

The Birmingham Urban Mountain Pedalers (BUMP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to building, preserving, maintaining, and riding mountain bike trails in Birmingham, Alabama.
