Last Updated April 2, 2024

The 31st annual Vermont 50 MTB is a mainstay New England event.  The event is unique in that it pairs with the Vermont 50 Ultra Run on the same day.  The Vermont 50 MTB winds through the picturesque Vermont countryside, offering participants a mix of rugged trails, dirt roads, and challenging climbs. The course is designed to test the skills and endurance of the riders, with technical sections that demand both strength and agility. Participants must navigate through dense forests, cross streams, and conquer steep ascents and descents. The rugged nature of the course adds an extra layer of excitement and difficulty for mountain bikers.  Strambecco rates the event as one of New England’s best mountain bike events.

You can see details of the Vermont 50 Ultra running event here, but in short, the event offers distance options of 50 miles and 50k.  In addition to the unique combination of premier MTB and Ultra-Running races in one event, The Vermont 50 stands out for several reasons:

  1. Charity Focus: The Vermont 50 is about athletic accomplishment and making a positive impact. The event is a major fundraiser for Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports, a non-profit organization that provides sports and recreational activities for individuals with disabilities.
  2. Scenic Beauty: Vermont’s natural beauty plays a significant role in the event’s appeal. Participants enjoy stunning vistas of the Green Mountains, meandering rivers, and lush forests throughout the course.
  3. Community Spirit: The Vermont 50 has a strong sense of community, with passionate organizers, volunteers, and participants coming together to create a supportive and welcoming atmosphere. This camaraderie adds to the overall experience of the event.
