Fruita Trail Half Marathon 2026
About This Event
Part of Adventure Fest’s multi-sport weekend celebration, this half-marathon showcases Fruita’s pristine desert singletrack at its early-season best. The 13.8-mile counterclockwise loop flows through smooth, undulating terrain with about 1,000 feet of climbing, featuring short steep ascents and flowing descents that highlight the technical variety of Colorado’s high desert.
The course delivers stunning panoramic views of surrounding buttes and mesas as runners navigate challenging switchbacks and diverse terrain. Three strategically placed aid stations at miles 3.5, 7.5, and 11.4 provide gels, sports drinks, water, Skittles, and potato chips, though runners must bring their own hydration systems as part of sustainability efforts.
Gemini Adventures has crafted this event to emphasize community and outdoor celebration over pure competition. The post-race atmosphere buzzes with beer, hot food, and games, creating an ideal setting for athletes and families to connect. Top three finishers in each age group earn distinctive custom cowbell awards, while overall winners receive complimentary entries for the following year.
May’s mild desert conditions, with temperatures typically ranging from 48 to 79 degrees, provide comfortable racing weather. The course’s technical singletrack demands focus and skill while remaining accessible to intermediate trail runners. Experienced participants consistently praise the event’s relaxed vibe and the way it captures Fruita’s unique desert landscape, making it feel more like an adventure with friends than a typical road race translated to trails.
The festival format, combining trail running with mountain biking and gravel events, attracts a diverse, passionate outdoor community.
