The HERO Global Series is back in 2024! For those who crave a challenge, always strive to go the extra mile, and seek the thrill of the ride, get ready for some exciting news. The HERO Global Series is undergoing a transformation in 2024, bringing forth three incredible mountain bike events that promise to test your mettle and ignite your adventurous spirit. These races are not for the faint of heart, as they will take you through some of the most demanding routes in stunning locations.  The journey begins with the BMW HERO Sudtirol Dolomites, an epic race set amidst the breathtaking Dolomites in South Tyrol, Italy. This region, known for its ski, bike, and trekking offerings, is surrounded by the iconic Dolomite rock towers, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2009. As alpinist Reinhold Messner once remarked, “The Dolomites are not the highest mountains in the world, but definitely the most beautiful ones.”

Following this spectacular HERO Sudtirol Dolomites start, the HERO Series ventures into the Black Forest Ultra Bike Marathon in Germany in July, offering riders an opportunity to tackle challenging terrain in the heart of the Black Forest. Finally, the Series culminates in August with the National Park Bike-Marathon in Switzerland, where participants can immerse themselves in the stunning Swiss landscapes.

Demanding Routes and Sustainability Commitment

These three races are no ordinary mountain biking events; they are part of the UCI international calendar, featuring extremely demanding routes that will push riders to their limits. Each race is supported by its own Organizing Committee, which places a strong emphasis on sustainability, ensuring that these events not only challenge participants but also respect the environment they traverse.

Race Details and Challenges

The BMW HERO Südtirol Dolomites, in particular, offers three challenging routes covering 86, 71, and 60 kilometers, with elevation gains of 4,500, 4,100, and 3,200 meters, respectively. These routes wind through the magnificent Dolomites, providing a visual feast for riders. To compete for the overall ranking, cyclists must complete the HERO Dolomites’ long course for men and women:

  • Men’s Course: 86 KM / 4,500 HM
  • Women’s Course: 60 KM / 3,200 HM

HERO ZERO VILLAGE: A Biking Paradise

In June 2024, the HERO ZERO VILLAGE will be a bustling hub of activity, with stands from event partners showcasing the latest products and accessories in the biking world. It’s a space dedicated to mountain biking and its continuous evolution, offering riders a chance to test out new gear and innovations.

Prizes and Young Enthusiasts

For those striving for victory, the first three finishers in the overall categories will be honored at the final prize-giving ceremony. Additionally, the top three bikers in each category will receive prizes in kind. And the HERO Series isn’t just for the grown-ups; the HERO KIDS 2024 race provides children aged 4 to 12 with a non-competitive opportunity to experience the joy of mountain biking.

In conclusion, the HERO Südtirol Dolomites is a mountain biking race like no other. It combines the thrill of challenging terrain, the beauty of the Dolomites, and a unique cultural experience in South Tyrol, Italy. As part of the HERO Global Series, it draws elite riders from around the world, making it a must-visit event for mountain biking enthusiasts and adventurers seeking the ultimate two-wheeled challenge. So, gear up, saddle in, and get ready to conquer the Dolomites in a race that will test your limits and leave you with memories to last a lifetime.
