Event & Course Information
Moab's Red Hot Ultra offers four distinct race distances: 50 Mile, 55K, 33K, and 15K, each providing a unique and challenging experience for runners of various skill levels.
The 50-mile course takes runners from a low point of 3,983 feet to a high of 5,728 feet, with a total elevation gain and loss of 7,028 feet. This route showcases the diverse terrain and stunning rim trails that Moab is known for. The course is well-supported with aid stations at strategic points, offering water, sodas, and other refreshments, adhering to the event’s cupless policy, which encourages runners to bring their own reusable cups.
The 55K course, while slightly shorter, still demands respect with an elevation gain and loss of 4,639 feet, starting at 4,551 feet and peaking at 5,728 feet. This route also offers incredible views and a mix of jeep roads and singletrack trails.
The 33K course, featuring an elevation gain and loss of 2,838 feet, ranges from 4,547 feet to 5,492 feet in elevation. This mid-distance race is perfect for those looking to challenge themselves with a slightly shorter, yet still demanding, trail run.
The 15K course, the shortest option, offers a more accessible challenge with an elevation gain and loss of 965 feet, ranging from 4,577 feet to 5,000 feet. This race is ideal for those new to trail running or looking for a shorter, but still scenic, race experience.
Field limits and completion cutoff times ensure a smooth and organized event. The 50 Mile race starts at 6:00 a.m., the 55K at 7:00 a.m., and both the 33K and 15K start at 8:30 a.m. Participants must attach a timing chip to their shoes to ensure their race times are recorded accurately.
The event culminates at the Seven Mile Parking Lot, where finishers are greeted with refreshments, water, soda, and other runner-approved goodies. All participants receive a custom race shirt, a BOCO Gear Technical Trucker Hat, and a finisher's medal. Awards are given to top finishers in each category, adding a competitive edge to this picturesque race.
