The Bovine Classic 2026
About This Event
This Paso Robles gravel event has earned rave reviews from participants, with many calling it one of the best gravel experiences they’ve ever done. Produced by Bike Monkey and Locomotiv Performance Coaching, it benefits Operation Surf, which creates healing programs for injured veterans.
The event features four distinct courses across the scenic wine country terrain, each offering a healthy mix of dirt and asphalt. The Big Bovine covers 100 miles with 9,400 feet of climbing, including 40+ miles of dirt, long climbs, Belgian-style rollers, and a thrilling 1-mile single-track section. The Feisty Bovine follows a similar route but skips the single-track, totaling 73 miles with 7,400 feet of elevation. The Happy Bovine introduces riders to a 1.5-mile single-track stampede out to Creston with a stop at Long Branch Saloon, covering 64 miles and 5,000+ feet of climbing. The Baby Bovine offers a more relaxed 37-mile option with 3,100 feet of elevation, featuring one major climb up Kiler Canyon followed by a beautiful ride under oak canopies.
All courses include well-stocked aid stations and comprehensive support with SAG vehicles, motos, and ride marshals. Multiple timed segments throughout each route determine overall winners, with prizes awarded to the top five finishers in categories with over 30 participants.
The post-ride celebration creates a festival atmosphere with beer, lunch, live music, and DJ entertainment. Pre-ride events include guided rides and the unique “Fried Pickle” pre-ride at The LongBranch Saloon, adding to the weekend’s community feel.
