Snowmass 50 2026
About This Event
The Snowmass 50 presents a 25-mile single-track loop with 5,000 feet of climbing through some of the finest mountain biking terrain in the Roaring Fork Valley. Riders can tackle the full 50-mile distance solo, complete one 25-mile lap, or split the 50 with a teammate in the relay division.
Originally conceived as a grueling route over Aspen’s four ski mountains, organizers redesigned the course to create a more accessible yet still demanding challenge. The current loop starts on Fanny Hill above Snowmass Village and circumnavigates the Snowmass Valley, stringing together legendary local trails including Rim, Tom Blake, and Government Trail.
The race attracts serious regional talent while maintaining the welcoming atmosphere typical of Power of Four events, which also includes ski mountaineering and trail running races. The single-track heavy course showcases the technical riding that makes this area a destination for mountain bikers, with terrain varying from flowing valley trails to challenging climbs and descents.
What sets this event apart is the quality of trail selection—nearly the entire route runs on purpose-built single-track rather than fire roads or doubletrack. Riders navigate through aspen groves, alpine meadows, and technical rock sections while taking in views of the surrounding Elk Mountains. The course demands both fitness and bike handling skills, making it equally rewarding for those pushing for podium spots and riders simply looking to experience some of Colorado’s premier mountain biking in an organized event setting.
