Oregon Coast Gravel Epic 2026
About This Event
Known as the “Spring Classic” of the Pacific Northwest, this challenging gravel event takes place on the first weekend in May through the ancient Siuslaw National Forests and rural Oregon coastal communities. The course splits 65% unpaved logging roads with 35% smooth pavement remnants from decades of active logging operations.
Two distance options test riders across seriously stout hills. The full Abomination route covers 60 miles with 6,677 feet of elevation gain, taking 3.5 to 7 hours depending on fitness. The Son of Abomination shortens to 37 miles but remains demanding at 3,740 feet of climbing over 2.5 to 4 hours. The gravel is chunky at 3/4″ and larger for most of the course, so prepare gear accordingly for steep sections and potentially slick spots where moss and pine needles coat the surface.
The event delivers excellent support with frequent, well-stocked aid stations and SAG vehicles. Weather has been favorable in seven of the past eight years, with temperatures reaching 60 degrees or warmer, though cold weather stations are deployed if conditions turn harsh.
As the third event in the Oregon Triple Crown Series produced by Mudslinger Events, participants can earn series benefits including custom Pactimo jerseys for completing three events and discounted entry fees. The event showcases the raw beauty of Oregon’s coastal forests while delivering a legitimate physical challenge that has earned respect among Pacific Northwest gravel riders. The combination of technical terrain, scenic routing, and solid event organization creates an experience that captures the essence of Oregon’s diverse landscape in a single demanding day.
