High Cascades 100 2026
About This Event
The 100-mile course covers just under 10,000 feet of elevation gain through the mountains surrounding Bend, Oregon. The route was deliberately designed to avoid high-altitude snowbanks, which resulted in a more technically demanding course that winds through challenging terrain while offering sweeping views of the Cascade Range.
As part of the National Ultra Endurance Series, this event maintains premium standards throughout. Four fully stocked aid stations feature Hammer Nutrition products, while Sagebrush Cycles provides on-course mechanical support. The course marking and organization earn consistent praise from participants, with riders noting they never felt lost or uncertain about directions.
Mudslinger Events has refined this race over 15 years, creating what many consider their flagship mountain bike event. The technical nature of the course demands solid bike handling skills alongside endurance fitness. Riders tackle varied terrain that includes rocky sections, forest singletrack, and exposed climbs that showcase the high desert landscape.
Categories accommodate different competition levels and age groups, from open divisions to masters categories for riders 40+, 50+, and 60+, plus dedicated singlespeed divisions for both men and women. The event attracts serious ultra-endurance athletes competing for NUE series points alongside riders simply looking to complete their first century.
Post-race atmosphere reflects the mountain biking community’s collaborative spirit, with finishers sharing stories and comparing notes on the course’s most challenging sections. The event’s reputation draws riders from across the Northwest and beyond who return year after year for both the course challenge and the quality organization.
