The Canyonlands Ultra features a variety of race distances, each designed to showcase the diverse and rugged terrain of Moab. The ultimate challenge, the 100K course, demands endurance, strategy, and mental toughness. Covering multiple loops, it tests runners' limits while offering some of the most scenic vistas in the region, with an elevation gain and loss of 7828 feet.

For those seeking a true ultramarathon experience, the 50-mile course requires participants to complete a marathon loop followed by a shorter loop, challenging runners with significant elevation changes and diverse terrain, totaling an elevation gain and loss of 5220 feet.

The 50K course combines the marathon loop with additional technical sections, featuring an elevation gain and loss of 2644 feet.

Marathon runners will experience the full spectrum of Moab's terrain over 26.2 miles, from smooth doubletrack to more technical sections, demanding endurance and resilience.

The half marathon route provides a more substantial challenge, with a steady climb and descent that rewards runners with panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes, with an elevation gain and loss of 1119 feet.

The 15K course, perfect for those new to trail running or looking for a less intense challenge, features a mix of sandy washes and technical doubletrack, offering a taste of Moab's unique terrain, with an elevation gain and loss of 689 feet.

The Canyonlands Ultra is well-supported with multiple aid stations strategically placed throughout each course. These stations provide water, electrolyte drinks, and a variety of snacks to keep runners fueled. Mad Moose Events has implemented a cupless policy to minimize environmental impact, so participants must bring their own reusable cups or hydration systems. Volunteers at aid stations are equipped to assist with filling hydration packs and bottles, ensuring runners stay hydrated throughout their journey.

For those traveling to Moab, the event offers dispersed camping at the start/finish line, with additional camping spots along the road. There are designated areas for tent camping and RVs, ensuring all participants have a place to stay.

There is something for everyone, from hiking to kayaking, rafting, rock climbing, off-road adventuring, and exploring national parks.

When it comes to lodging, the town has a variety of options to suit different preferences and needs. Three highly recommended options are the Big Horn LodgeGonzo Inn, and Field Station Moab (which also offers spots for van lifers), all known for their friendly accommodations and convenient locations. However, if you don't mind a bit of a drive and are looking for something more secluded, the Red Cliff Lodge and Sorrell River Ranch are two beautiful lodges located about a 40-minute drive from town.
