Mammoth Tuff Gravel 2026
About This Event
Founded by professional cyclists Amanda Nauman and Dave Sheek in 2021, Mammoth Tuff Gravel has quickly established itself as a premier event in the gravel cycling scene. The founders’ vision to showcase the stunning Eastern Sierra region through challenging high-altitude riding has created something special that blends competitive racing with an inclusive community atmosphere.
The Eastern Sierra location sets this event apart with its unique combination of high-altitude landscapes at over 7,800 feet, rugged terrain, and dramatic scenery. Riders traverse dirt roads and trails that wind through towering peaks, alpine meadows, and ancient geological formations, creating a riding experience few other events can match.
Three course options accommodate different skill levels and goals. The TUFF route covers approximately 40 miles, while TUFFER extends to 60-75 miles, and TUFFEST challenges riders with 85-100 miles. The TUFFER course qualifies men over 60 and women over 50 for UCI Gravel World Championships, while TUFFEST serves as the qualifier distance for younger categories. Each route features a neutral rollout from town to the first gravel segment and includes some paved sections alongside the dirt roads.
Course maps are released the week of the event, making the mandatory rider’s meeting crucial for understanding the day’s logistics and neutral rollout procedures. Aid stations and support are positioned along each route to keep riders fueled and safe.
As part of the UCI Gravel World Series, Mammoth Tuff draws international talent while maintaining its welcoming community spirit. The event’s organizers prioritize creating a supportive environment with pre-ride socials and post-ride celebrations, while local businesses and residents actively contribute to the festive atmosphere that makes this more than just a race.
