Sisters Stampede 2026
About This Event
Part of the prestigious Oregon XC Series since 2010, this Memorial Day weekend race caps participation at just 500 riders to preserve the pristine Peterson Ridge Trail System, maintained through the dedicated efforts of the Sisters Trail Alliance. The intimate field size creates a community atmosphere that sets it apart from larger commercial events.
Two course options cater to different ambitions: the 27-mile long course with 1,500 feet of elevation gain, and a 14-mile short course gaining 500 feet. Both wind primarily through rolling singletrack scattered with Central Oregon’s signature lava rock, offering technical challenges against the dramatic backdrop of the Three Sisters Mountains. The terrain demands bike handling skills while rewarding riders with some of the most scenic views in the Pacific Northwest.
The race format spans 33 categories with top-three awards in each, plus an overall $1,000 cash prize that adds competitive edge to the friendly atmosphere. Course layout varies from one to two laps depending on age category, and kids under nine race free, reinforcing the event’s family-friendly culture.
Post-race festivities center around Three Creeks Brewing, where all participants gather to celebrate their efforts. The celebration extends beyond the official party with Blazing Saddles Cycle and Supply Bike Shop hosting an annual block party that welcomes the entire riding community.
As one of six premier Oregon mountain bike events running March through June, Sisters Stampede occupies a sweet spot in the season when Central Oregon’s high desert climate provides ideal riding conditions and the surrounding wilderness shows off its spring colors.
