Swiss Epic MTB 2026
About This Event
This five-day stage race through Switzerland’s Graubünden region delivers 350 kilometers and 12,000 meters of climbing across some of Europe’s most demanding alpine terrain. The route changes annually, typically moving between iconic locations like Davos, La Punt, and the broader Engadin valley, ensuring even returning riders face fresh challenges on snow-capped peaks and technical descents.
The mandatory two-person team format sets the Swiss Epic apart from most stage races. You’ll navigate everything from the renowned 9-kilometer Albula Trail descent to Davos’s award-winning singletrack alongside your partner, creating intense bonds as you tackle grueling climbs and fast-flowing alpine trails together. Teams range from elite professionals to ambitious amateurs, but the shared suffering and triumph of multi-day racing creates genuine camaraderie throughout the field.
Each stage features three well-stocked aid stations with sports nutrition and facilities, crucial given the remote alpine terrain and significant daily distances. The all-inclusive format handles logistics that can make or break a stage race experience – Swiss quality accommodations with your teammate, post-stage recovery meals at the finish line, and the essential morning coffee before tackling another day of alpine punishment.
The Race Village atmosphere strikes a balance between serious competition and celebration, with local beer awaiting finishers each evening. Participants consistently praise the organization and volunteer support, with recent finishers highlighting both the challenging trail variety and the seamless event logistics that let you focus purely on riding.
The Engadin region’s 400+ kilometers of marked trails and “trail tolerance” philosophy between hikers and bikers creates an ideal backdrop for this demanding test of endurance and partnership.
