Takelma Gravel Grinder

Takelma Gravel Grinder is an Oregon Triple Crown Series event produced by Mudslinger Events, a premier producer of cycling events in the Pacific Northwest. Seven Feathers RV Resort, nestled among tall Douglas firs and pine trees, just off of Interstate 5, at exit 99, in Canyonville, Oregon, is the beginning of the Takelma Gravel Grinder.  Riders will choose between the 57 Mile Bold route with 6,000 feet of elevation gain or the 30-mile Decaf route with 1,300 feet of elevation gain .  The ride begins by taking riders through the doors (literally) of the casino before rolling towards the town of Canyonville and onto rural Tiller Trail Highway.  Passing farm and ranch landscapes along the South Umpqua River, soon you’re into the gravel experience with the first climb of the ride.  A challenging 1.3-mile KMO climbing effort with 9% average gain, then cresting to a spectacular valley view of Days Creek.  During the ride, aid stations with electrolyte drinks and food will be provided, as well as SAG vehicles.

The 15-Mile mark will be the turn-around for Decaf riders as the Bold riders continue towards Chief Miwaleta Park and along the scenic view of Galesville Reservoir.  The route then returns to the Seven Feathers Casino Resort to relax at the Bites, Blues & Brews Festival, enjoying food and beverage from the Seven Feathers Food Truck, compliments of the race organizers.

Participants often stay in the casino, where there is lodging, dining, and even a spa. There is also a Seven Feathers RV Resort near the casino. For those who would prefer to camp, many campgrounds are in scenic areas along the course. See options at Chief Miwaleta RV Park and Campground or County Park Campground.

Mudslinger Events was formed by Michael Ripley, an enthusiastic mountain biker who grew up in Eugene, Oregon. The organization brings people together to explore the gorgeous outdoor areas of Oregon. This event is part of the Triple Crown Series which includes several events from April to May: Oregon Coast Gravel Epic, West Coast Gravel, Oregon Gran Fondo, Sasquatch Duro, and Takelma Gravel Grinder. People interested in participating can register for each event separately or benefit from the OTC Series Pass, which includes price discounts, bike accessories, and prizes associated with the timed-event awards.

Mudslinger also produces the Oregon XC Series, six premier Oregon MTB events spanning April to September.  The Oregon XC Series includes Mudslinger XC, Sisters Stampede, Oregon 24/12, High Cascades 100, and Ring of Fire.
