Event & Course Info
The Wolf Tracks Rendezvous is Minocqua Winter Park’s signature race, drawing skiers from all over to experience its picturesque, yet demanding trails. This event is unique because of its single-loop format, which offers skiers the chance to immerse themselves in the park's stunning natural scenery without retracing their steps. For the serious skier seeking a true test of endurance and skill, the 42 km course is the ultimate challenge. The race starts off by sharing the first 5 km with the 24 km participants, a gentle warm-up before the real fun begins. As you turn onto the more advanced black diamond trails, the course quickly reveals its teeth, a section designed to push your limits with steep climbs that will get your heart racing. After this intense start, the course offers some respite on the rolling terrain of the Wolf Tracks trail, an opportunity to catch your breath and enjoy the scenery. Just when you think you’ve conquered the toughest sections, the course throws in River Run, a challenging descent that requires focus and finesse.
For those seeking a more moderate challenge, the 24 km route of Wolf Tracks Rendezvous offers a perfect blend of excitement and accessibility. The course is designed for skiers who are looking for a less intense, but still rewarding experience, sticking to easy and intermediate level trails throughout. Right out of the gate, skiers tackle the climb up Tornado Alley, followed by the rolling hills of Survivor and Yukon Trail. These early challenges set the tone for the race, but once you conquer them, the rest of the course is a pleasant cruise. The final stretch of the race takes you along the Wolf Tracks trail, where you can enjoy a more leisurely pace before heading to the finish line.
After crossing the finish line, skiers are treated to an awards ceremony that recognizes not just the top finishers, but also the spirit of the event. The post-race celebration is a highlight, featuring local food, drinks, and the chance to connect with fellow skiers. The Wolf Tracks Rendezvous is a must-do event for any Nordic skiing enthusiast.
