Event & Course Info

What makes Ski de She truly special is its focus on fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where women can not only compete but also enhance their skills and build confidence. Participants have the option to immerse themselves in a 3-day camp that offers health and wellness workshops, expert talks from the ski industry, and plenty of opportunities to connect with like-minded women. For those who can’t commit to the full camp experience, there’s the option to participate in the Saturday races only. With race distances catering to all skill levels—from a 5k to a challenging 30k—this event ensures that every woman can find a race that suits her abilities and goals.

The 30k Gear West Skate Race of the Ski de She is the longest and most demanding race option, designed for experienced skiers looking for a serious challenge – this race option qualifies you for the American Birkebeiner. The course takes skiers through the rolling hills and dense forests of the American Birkebeiner Trailhead. Expect a mix of steep climbs and fast descents, with an elevation gain of approximately 1,500 feet. The 20k Classic Race is a step down in distance but still a formidable challenge, the 20k Classic Race covers a varied terrain that includes gradual ascents and sweeping downhill sections. With an elevation gain of around 1,000 feet, this course is ideal for skiers who prefer the classic technique and want to test their endurance. The mid-distance race of 10k is perfect for those looking to push their limits without committing to the longer distances. The course is relatively gentle, with rolling terrain and an elevation gain of about 500 feet, suitable for both skate and classic skiers. The shortest race option, the 5k course, is designed for beginners and those looking for a quick, fun challenge. With an elevation gain of just 250 feet, the terrain is forgiving, making it an excellent choice for newer skiers or those participating in their first race.

The Ski de She camp is limited to 150 women, ensuring a personalized and engaging experience. For the races, there are no specific field limits mentioned, but it’s advisable to register early due to the popularity of the event. Completion cutoff times will likely vary by race distance, ensuring that all participants have ample time to finish. Post-race, participants are invited to the Derksen Family Great Hall for a celebratory gathering. The post-race party includes snacks and hydration at the aid station, and a warm-up with cocktails from Tattersall Distillery. This is a wonderful opportunity to relax, share stories from the race, and enjoy the company of fellow skiers. Ski de She offers a unique and empowering experience for women in the Nordic skiing community.
