Austin Rattler MTB 2026
About This Event
The Austin Rattler MTB takes place at Reveille Peak Ranch, a 1,300-acre trail paradise in the Texas Hill Country about an hour west of Austin. As part of the prestigious Leadville Race Series, this event combines challenging mountain biking with a true Texas celebration atmosphere.
The course consists of a technical 20-mile loop with 2,000 feet of elevation gain per lap. Riders can choose their adventure: tackle one loop for 20 miles, double up for 40 miles, or go all-out with the triple 60-mile distance. The route offers a dynamic mix of technical singletrack, fast fire roads, rocky outcrops, and punchy climbs that wind through diverse Hill Country terrain from dense woodlands to open fields.
The course design is particularly smart—it starts on the main ranch road for the first four miles, allowing riders to sort themselves out before hitting the challenging trail sections. This setup makes passing easier throughout the route while maintaining the technical challenge that makes the event memorable.
Logistics are straightforward but require planning. One aid station at the start/finish provides water, PowerBar, and Coke, with a neutral bag drop available for multi-lap riders. There are no on-course aid stations, so pack accordingly.
What sets this event apart is the simultaneous trail run and the legendary post-race celebration. The lakeside finish festival features live music, Texas BBQ, and beer starting at 10 AM, creating a true endurance community gathering. The 60-mile finishers earn qualification for the iconic Leadville 100 MTB, adding extra motivation for those seeking the ultimate challenge.
